PopUpMarket Launch

Cloudberry, are working with 24 Carrots Food Market, to launch a new exciting Pop Up project in Birmingham aimed at encouraging young people and communities to gain an experience of social entrepreneurship. As the name suggest, market stalls will “pop up” at existing community markets at a subsidized rate for young people to manage and sell goods.

We will be holding a launch event on the 1st November 2011 where we will be presenting our ideas about the PopUpMarket and to talk about opportunities to work or support the project. We are particularly looking to engage with:

  • Current Markets Initiatives
  • Health providers
  • Communities in the Ladywood area
  • Education providers in the Ladywood area
  • Social Enterprises
  • Funders

Our project will encourage  entrepreneurship, work experience and confidence building, as well as, trying to tackle the significant unemployment rates in the City and especially those in the Ladywood area. The UK youth unemployment rate is over 21% with Ladywood having one of the highest rate in the country. The PopUpMarket Project will provide an ideal low cost, low risk, environment for young people to try their hand at retailing goods with a social or environmental impact or goods they have produced.

“We are absolutely delighted to be supporting a project that will help the young people of Birmingham and Ladywood” Anne O’Leary, from 24 Carrots Co-operative
